My Dream…

April 27th, 2012

I am attending a symposium of some sort. All of us who are here were invited by the organizers because of certain knowledge we possess.

As I approach the building I decide I am going to stay at the lowest possible level (knowing that we will be spending several days if not weeks here at this place). By lowest I mean the bottom, closest to the Earth. The building sits at the top of a canyon, the top of the building where we enter is up on the mesa and the rest of the levels wind down the canyon walls. The lower levels more or less form a circle, but more on this later.

The top floor of the building holds conference rooms and dining facilities. As we are welcomed we are directed to the living areas below to choose our sleeping spaces.

Stairs take us down to where I can see that each level is open to the center with a low wall at the edge so we can see all the other levels and the spectacular view of the canyon which is filled with trees.

On each level the sleeping spaces line the balconies—each mattress is right next to the low wall. There are bath facilities at the back of the level, built into the canyon walls.

At the first level I find that Richard Branson (yes, that Richard Branson) has set up his sleeping area. Turns out he’s a major sponsor of the whole project and so has a very large area set aside for his work and smaller meetings and the like. We meet and he invites me to take the sleeping space right next to his (mine of course would be a smaller space which is basically just a mattress and small bedside table). I decline, however, since I know that I want to be at the bottom. After a few more words between us (can’t remember what we said) I continue down to the next level.

It becomes apparent that things are filling up fast. Not only do I want to be at the lowest possible altitude, I would also like a less crowded level.

I continue to take each stair case down, and once I get to the 5th or 6th level I am at the bottom. And there are fewer people down here as well! I am so happy, I take the very last bed on the bottom row. Here I realize that there is one very large tree that reaches all the way up to the top of the canyon. From this level I can see the base of the trunk and the roots holding on to the sides of the canyon. I begin to sense what my particular knowledge is, although I can’t say that I sense it right now.

One more attendee comes down and chooses the bed right next to mine. We will be working together, this is obvious. And, in the dream anyways, I realize that our specialty is about connectedness—how we are all connected (of course) and how we all connect. (Funny that I would seek out a more isolated sleeping space when I’m supposed to specialize in connections…)

Nevertheless, I awoke from this dream inspired and confident that I am exactly where I am supposed to be—at the lowest possible level! In my dream I thought perhaps I could reach out and touch the tree’s trunk, maybe even climb onto it and up to the top. It was a fleeting thought at the time and not really related the overall project, but still I could feel myself climbing up the rough bark (it looked oak-ish).

And the project? Earth, humanity, evolution, awakening. Awesome is truly applicable here.

P.S. I just googled Richard Branson. Here’s a snippet from his autobiography on www.virgin.com (check it out if you have a few minutes): In February 2007, we announced the Virgin Earth Challenge - a $25 million prize to encourage a viable technology which will result in the net removal of anthropogenic, atmospheric greenhouse gases. In July of the same year I had the honour of joining my good friend Peter Gabriel, Nelson Mandela, Graça Machel, and Desmond Tutu to announce the formation of The Elders, a group of leaders to contribute their wisdom, independent leadership and integrity to tackle some of the world’s toughest problems.”

I’d never heard of any of this before, and really only knew that he had started Virgin Records, and Virgin Airlines, and was planning on going into space. But of course he works with groups like this, brainstorming ways to kick our planetary consciousness out of the dark ages! Thanks, Richard, for putting your energy behind such good work. Here at the lowest altitude possible I offer up all of myself for the good of the whole. Namaste!
